Uh-oh! More bad news for Justin Trudeau arrives, just in time for the New Year!
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is under increasing pressure to resign as discontent grows within his Liberal Party. The situation worsened following the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland over disagreements on handling Donald Trump’s proposed 25% tariffs, which could harm Canada’s economy. Trudeau's low approval ratings, driven by a cost-of-living crisis, have further fueled discontent.
Recently, a majority of Liberal MPs from Ontario reportedly agreed that Trudeau should step down, with Ontario caucus chair Michael Coteau tasked with delivering the message. Liberal MP George Chahal also penned a letter urging Trudeau’s resignation to preserve dignity. Calls for his departure extend beyond the party, with opposition parties planning a non-confidence vote in January. If successful, this could trigger new elections. Trudeau is currently on vacation and has yet to respond.
